2020/2021 Parent Letter
After much thought and prayer, we would like to share with you our plan for Faith Formation here at Assumption for at least the next few months. We have been reviewing and evaluating procedures and best practices from across the diocese.
Beginning October 20th Sacrament year classes 2nd & 8th will meet onsite at the parish. Grade 2 will meet in the Church and in the Parish Hall Tuesday 4:00pm-5:00pm. Grade 8 will meet Tuesday 7:00pm-8:00pm in the cafeteria and library in the school building. The students will enter and exit through the Faith Formation Office.
Due to health department guidelines, at the present time we will not be able to use any other classrooms in the school building.
Accordingly, Grades 1,3,4,5 will meet via zoom Tuesday 4:00pm-5:00pm.
Grades 6,7 will meet via zoom Tuesday 7:00pm-8:00pm.
Each child will receive a textbook as well as an online component to accompany the textbook.
Specific grade level directions will be given out later.
The last Tuesday of each month all Faith Formation students, including grades 2nd & 8th (there will not be an onsite class that week) will virtually attend the 5:30pm Mass with Fr. Cipriani. The Mass will be streamed on YouTube, Facebook, and Vimeo.
Any parent who is not comfortable sending their child/children to an onsite class or participating in a zoom classroom may home school their child. The text book, bible and online component will also be available to all those who decide to homeschool.
All our current homeschool classes may zoom or meet in person, whatever the class decides.
Registration has begun. Please go to the Parish website and download the registration form and send it the Faith Formation office by September 29, 2020.
This will be the plan for the next few months. We will re-evaluate in January. However, as we all know plans may change quickly depending on the current public health data in Connecticut.
On behalf of all of us involved in Faith Formation, we are here to support and assist you. We are partners with you.
As always thank you for your cooperation and commitment to your child’s Faith Formation
Fr. Peter Cipriani
