National Eucharistic Pilgrimage

Diocesan Eucharistic Renewal

There are less than ten-days until the start of the Eucharistic Renewal!

It is our hope that as many faithful as possible might gather for our “Eucharistic Station.” However, understanding

that it is a work day, or that people may wish to attend multiple stations, we recommend referring to the the schedule for Sunday, May 19. There will be ample opportunities for participation, not the least of which is the transfer of the Blessed Sacrament via-boat at Bridgeport harbor, (12:00 p.m. on May 19) followed by walking processions between five churches. The full printed schedule may be found in the vestibule.

On Monday, May 20, following morning Mass at St. Augustine Cathedral, the Blessed Sacrament will be transferred via walking procession from St. Augustine to St. Margaret Shrine, where another walking procession with Rosary will take place on the grounds, followed by Adoration, after which the Blessed Sacrament will be transported by van to our church campus for Adoration and Benediction, starting approximately at 12:15 PM. Our Lord will be greeted by the Assumption School children and be with us for about 30 minutes.

The parking lot will be cordoned off into sections for parking, gathering, and access for the transport van. This will be obvious upon arrival. In the event of rain, the ceremony will take place inside the church in normal form. NOTE: there will not be a walking procession between the Shrine and OLA due to time constraints.

On day three, the procession will continue ‘down county’ and eventually exit into the Archdiocese of New York. While

anyone may participate at any point in the procession, the Diocese requests that people stay in their geographical area (for us, Bridgeport and Fairfield) so as to allow comfortable dispersion of crowds.

It is ultimately at our home parishes where the fruits of Eucharistic Renewal will be seen, which is why we extend a heartfelt invitation to all reading this to take advantage of our own regular Ado- ration schedule (First Fridays, 24 hours, and every Monday evening, 6-8 p.m.).

There is a special need for adorers during the overnight hours on First Fridays. Please consider keeping vigil with our Lord, as we are given these opportunities to be saturated with His presence.

Pope St. John Paul II said, “Our essential commitment in life is to persevere and advance constant- ly in Eucharistic life and Eucharistic piety and to grow spiritually in the climate of the Holy Eucharist.” These three days are just the beginning of a unified reclaiming of our Eucharistic identity. Let’s keep the ball rolling “from here to Eternity.”
